Greetings From The City of Lights

A quick hello to everyone! My mom and I arrived in Paris this morning. Although we’ve only been here for ten hours, today has already been incredible. There are few places in the world with the same energy and sophistication as this city, especially during Fashion Week. We start going to shows tomorrow and I can’t wait… It will be my first time attending Balmain and Rick Owens. I hope to get some great footage!

John Galliano

On a more serious note, as many of you may know, I was one of John Galliano’s biggest fans. To say I was, and still am, deeply saddened by his remarks over the past few days would be an understatement. Ever since my first time seeing him on style.com ten years ago, I idolized the man. Although I admired his genius as a designer, above all, I loved him as a person. I will never forget my first time meeting him backstage at his Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear show (pictured above). Through his ups and downs in the design world, my opinion of him never changed, however, his most recent escapades are inexcusable. While I no longer, and never will, feel the same connection towards him, I wish him the best in recovery. I sincerely hope he takes the appropriate steps needed to regain control of his life. I am saddened by the fact that his design career has undoubtably come to an end, but I wish him a healthy life and one that will not end tragically. 2011 does not need another loss similar to the great McQueen… Tomorrow is a new day though, and I can’t wait to see what the Fall 2011 collections have to offer.

Well said. While no one should condone his words or actions, we can all respect the artistic genius that he was (and is) and wish him the best in his recovery.
