McQueen Visionaire Book

Visionaire Magazine recently paid a very special tribute to the late Alexander McQueen. As the one year anniversary of his passing quickly approaches it was perfect timing for them to publish one of their ever-famous ‘Bookzines’ honoring his great career; three different limited edition installments of these books are published every year by the Visionaire team and always vary in theme. In the past, they have done pieces on Comics, Comme des Garçon, Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott and Marc Jacobs, Artist Toys and Mario Testino. This is the 58th volume of the collection and is entitled Spirit in honor of McQueen. Only 1500 copies of the limited addition compilation were produced and I was lucky enough to receive no.404 as a gift from a dear friend, and fellow fashion lover! The casing of the box-set is a beautiful creme satin complete with antique gold metal applied beading. The Visionaire site describes the fabric as “metalized brocade form his Spring/Summer 2010 show,” but to me the casing is much more reminiscent of his Fall 2010 collection. Inside, there is a group of 20 images, all individually printed on “paper embedded with wildflower seeds. When planted, watered, and given sun, the pages blossom.” Check out the short video tour below and be sure to see my favorite piece of the series shown in the last few seconds!

Here are skans of all the images from inside the collection…
